This follow-up to IMAGES & WORDS is equally perfect! The music is still extremely progressive but now with a dark, heavy edge. The main reason why is John Petrucci began to experiment with the Ibanez 7-string guitar, and was probably the first guitarist to truly maximize it's capabilities, rather than simply using it as a method to sound heavier. Dream Theater like its name is a unreal dream, every second of a Dream Theater song is not of this world. Dream Theater is the complete expresion of the art (music). AWAKE is pure progresive metal, a bit more heavy than IMAGES AND WORDS but show the quality of this great band. |
