Sacred Journey of Ku-Kai Vol. 2 is a continuation of Kitaro’s mission for honoring the founder of Japanese Buddhism (Kobo Daishi). Kitaro’s stated plan is to produce one album per year over the next ten years. Each album will consist of 8-10 tracks containing a total of 88 sacred bells. Please see www.kitaro.us for Kitaro’s focus for this project. Sacred Journey of Ku-kai (Vol. 1) was Kitaro's first album in this new series of conceptual music, released in September 2003. After the horrific events of September 11, 2001, this album was dedicated to the Sacred Journey of Ku-Kai and directed towards worldwide spiritual inspirational and enlightenment. In 2003, Kitaro began a traditional Japanese spiritual pilgrimage to many sacred places in Japan. Known as the Shikoku Henro Pilgrimage, this journey (Japanese; tabiji) takes him on a circular path to all 88 sacred places on the island of Shikoku, Japan. On Kitaro's journey, he will sample the sounds of each of the temple's bells as a basis for these compositions for the Sacred Journey of Ku-kai series. Kitaro says, "I hope my music can contribute to this world even a little bit in this 21st Century." |
