This is the first CD from the famous EU out of St. Petersburg. Perhaps the most known russian electronica band, with releases and appearances on labels like Pause2, Merck, Neo Ouija, Delicatessen and many many more. Between 2000 to 2003 every electronica label wanted to havet EU track for compilation or some split release. On this album from Art-Tek EU demonstrate their warm and melodic side, and it's already possible to spot their own style, which they followed through the last few years. It sounds a bit like children jukebox connected to mutating drum machine, and moving in different directions at the same time. There's nothing too similar to EU, it's their own unique sound of very warm atmospheres and crunchy rhythms. From all the CD's they've released this is one of the best examples of EU sound for all electronica fans.

I've reviewed several of EU's mp3 albums (including EU_Hard), but this is the fist disk from the Russian duo on the Art-Tek label. I've been waiting a very long time for this disk--well over a year. But I finally have my copy and I love the whole damn thing. True to the spirit of Russian electronic music, this little gem is filled with manic computer-based engineering (there are even close-ups of computer chips on the cover), soft and subtle melodies, and lots of "buzz" and "bleep" noises. What can I say? This is what I expected from EU--fuzzy noise and intricate sound-play, created with an expert's touch and an artist's sense of timing. Songs like "Clouds" are softer (hence the title) and more melodic than tracks on other EU disks, but the overall quality is first-rate. If you like this sort of thing, you need this disk; if not, then go get something else.
