Примечание:	One of the foremost electric blues harpists of the modern era, Sugar Blue was born James Whiting in New York City in 1950. The son of a singer/dancer who regularly performed at the legendary Apollo Theater, he was given his first harmonica at the age of ten, and by his mid-teens had already performed in the company of Muddy Waters; in the early 1970s he made his first recordings, sitting in on sessions by the likes of Johnny Shines and Louisiana Red. Sugar Blue relocated to Paris in 1976, where he was introduced to the Rolling Stones; he went on to play on the group's LPs Some Girls, Emotional Rescue and Tattoo You, lending his skills to such hits as "Miss You." He also played on jazz dates for Stan Getz and Paul Horn, and in 1979 cut the solo effort Crossroads. Upon returning to the U.S. in the mid-1980s, Sugar Blue settled in Chicago; after signing to Alligator, he cut Blue Blazes in 1994, followed a year later by In Your Eyes.

Sugar Blue
Подлинный новатор и экспериментатор в области блюзового харпа. Родился Sugar Blue (James Whiting) в негритянском районе Нью-Йорка Гарлеме в музыкальной семье в 1955. К середине 60-х освоил губную гармонику, начав слушать этот инструмент на пластинках Стиви Вандера, Боба Дилана, Литтл Волтера.
К середине 70-х вырос в одного из самых виртуозных музыкантов в своей категории, работал в качестве сессионного и концертного музыканта с рядом блюзовых знаменитостей, в частности, с Брауни МакГи и Рузвелтом Сайксом, с певицей Викторией Спиви.
В 1976 ШБ перебирается в Париж, играет в маленьких клубах и просто на улице. Благодаря стечению обстоятельств, его замечают Rolling Stones и приглашают для записи партии гармоники для альбома «Some Girls». В хитовой вещи 1978 года «Miss You» таким образом, звучит гармоника ШБ. Музыкант сотрудничал с Роллинг Стоунз при записи их пластинок «Emotional Rescue» «Tattoo You», выступал вместе с ними во время концертных туров.
В начале 80-х годов выходят два первых сольных альбома ШБ.
В 1982 вернулся в США и поселился в Чикаго, где начал работать в составе ансамбля Вилли Диксона. Благодаря участию в этом проекте, ШБ дважды участвовал в записи пластинок, получавших премию «Грэмми». В самом конце десятилетия Шугар Блю вновь получил ангажемент во всемирном туре Роллинг Стоунз » «Steel Wheels».
В середине 90-х подписал контракт, по которому выпустил 2 альбома для компании Alligator Records. АИ
