Hampton Grease Band - Music To Eat (2CD) Rock - Prog-Rock/ Art Rock - Psychedelic Year.1971 Label.Columbia/Legacy Year.1996 Label.Sony Catalog #.C2K 67483 Rip. : ExactAudioCopy v0.95b1 Encoder : ape (Monkey's Audio 3.99) .rar : 491.55 Mo with : Front/Back/Cd label/All Insides and eac.log Review by Richie Unterberger Hampton Grease Band's only album, now reissued as a double CD, is a one-of-a-kind item, drawing upon jazz, progressive/psychedelic guitar rock, and a generally surrealist bent to back Bruce Hampton's idiot-savant ravings. Comparisons with Zappa and Beefheart are really inevitable, though Hampton Grease Band really weren't on the level of those two fellow weirdos. They were definitely on their own wavelength, though, carving out a more guitar-oriented sound that skirted even closer to the lunatic fringe. The reissue's enhanced with a lengthy history by guitarist Glenn Phillips that's crammed with believe-it-or-not anecdotes from the group's fascinating career. Musicians : Harold Kelling, guitar, vocals Glenn Phillips, guitar, saxophone Bruce Hampton, lead vocals, trumpet Mike Holbrook, bass Jerry Fields, drums, percussion, vocals. Tracklist : 1. Je sais pourtant me servir d'un traducteur (ben lui non plus)! La langue anglaise me semble la plus utile pour mener une conversation! |
