At the end of that year lead guitarist Tobias Wernersson was added to the line-up as a result of which founding member Chrille Andersson was able to concentrate on his role as keyboard player. With this change the band not only got a great new guitar player (just listen to this album), but also acquired a line-up that could perform live without the help from a session keyboarder. Last year songs were written for the band’s third album, but right before the recordings took place, drummer Jocke Unger was replaced by Johan Rydberg. The result is another strong album from the Swedes, that sounds a little less like a Europe on fire and thus a little more original. What I like about this band by far is the quality of their epic songs, although I would have preferred a little more variation. The speed is the same in all tracks and only the instrumental track "The Quest Part 1" (which is a kind of duel between guitarist Wernersson and keyboard player Andersson) serves as an attempt to vary. But for the rest you won’t hear me complain, because this is an agreeable melodic metal album in many ways... (CL) |
