В отличие от предыдущего концертного релиза, здесь только эпические вещи продолжительностью в среднем минут 25. Есть у шведов маленькая слабость, но когда слушаешь The Truth Will Set You Free, очень сложно представить, за счет чего её можно было бы сократить. Уж что-что, а качественные, интересные аранжировки для своих опусов Столт и Ко. умеют делать как никто другой.

Meet The FlowerKings /@live Recording 2003" – двойной концертный CD, записанный 10 февраля 2003 года в Uppsala Stadsteater. 2.5 часа живого выступления The Flower Kings. Программа состояла из наиболее известных творений группы и была исполнена камерно, перед небольшой аудиторей в студии, предназначенной для телесъемок и театральных постановок. Это первый видео-релиз группы, профессионально спродисированный и выпущенный, что называется "для продажи". Гости на концерте - Daniel Gildenlöw ("Pain Of Salvation") и ("Flying Food Circus").

I waited for this DVD to arrive with great eagerness. I was finally going to Meet The Flower Kings after having to pass on two opportunities over the last year because of my schedule. Maybe this would fill the gap. I still would like to meet them personally to learn more about them. You meet them only through their music on this DVD, which is exceptional, and that is a given at this point in their career as everything they have done has received rave reviews from this writer.
There were some disappointments after viewing the two lengthy discs, although the enjoyment I experienced far outweighed any of those feelings. There were no interviews, which was very disappointing. When their live presentations ended, they screen would fade to black then at times go right into a fragmented disorderly array of scenes on the road or in the studio. Unfortunately, none of them speaks English (they are from Sweden for those of you that did not know) during the course of each DVD, except for lead guitarist/singer Roine Stolt, uttering a few words about how many songs were left to record during one of their studio sessions. I could tell what was going on; nevertheless it would have been nice to hear and understand what their conversations were. There was not any continuity or logical order to parts of this presentation.

Mit der Menge an Alben, die diese Jungs produziert haben, hat man sich denken kцnnen, dass sie schon vor einer Weile eine Live-DVD herausbringen wьrden. Genauso wie bei ihren CDs kцnnen sie nicht einfach eine einzige Scheibe rausbringen. Dies ist eine Doppel-DVD voller verdammt langer Songs, die Tage lang gehen kцnnen. "The Truth Will Set You Free" ist ein 31-minьtiger Opener mit viereinhalb Minuten bevor Roines Vocals einsetzen. Diese Jungs wissen nicht, wie sie etwas einfach machen, alles wird zusammengeworfen, inklusive der Kьchenspьle. Zwei Keyboarder bestehend aus Bandmitglied Tomas Bodin und einem Gast. Daniel Gildenlцw von PAIN OF SALVATION hilft nicht nur an den Keys aus, sondern streicht auch eine Gitarre, hдmmert auf die Drums und singt auch noch. Es gibt oben drauf noch zwei Percussionisten.
Hauptdrummer Zoltan ist ein wirklich bemerkenswerter Musiker. Sein Timing und prдzise Schlagen der Drums wird euch die Kinnlade runterklappen lassen. Hasse Bruniusson bringt auch noch seine Drumfдhigkeiten mit hinein. Der Song, wenn ihr euch die Band anhцrt, ist in groЯer Tradition des 70er Progressive Rock. Psychedelische Keyboardarbeit ist hier sehr deutlich wahrnehmbar, die Gitarrenarbeit ist leicht und tritt manchmal mit ein paar der Solos etwas mehr aufs Pedal....Read more...
