Один из самых знаменитых психоделических альбомов всех времен и народов. Изначально был издан в моно-версии.
Это был своего рода ответ Брайана Уилсона на альбом Rubber Soul. Вот что он писал по этому поводу:
In December of 1965, I heard the album RUBBER SOUL by the Beatles. It was definitely a challenge for me. I saw that every cut was very artistically interesting and stimulating. I immediately went to work on the songs for PET SOUNDS.
О данном издании оригинальной моно-версии альбома PET SOUNDS его координатор Mark Linett (Glendale, California) написал следующее:
In the preparation of this compact disc every effort has been made to make this historic recording sound the way it did when Brian, Mike, Carl, Dennis, Al and Bruce released it in 1966. No remixing was attempted as it was felt this would not be faithful to the original intent of the artist. The original mono tape was transferred using a specially modified tape deck with custom electronics and special HDCD analog to digital converter.
