With each album the band has climbed the ladder higher and especially with the beautiful album 'Bombared Your Soul' the band couldn't do wrong with me. Therefore I was rather curious about this new album. Full expectations I put the disc in my player and turn the volume up and yes, as soon as they blast out with the fantastic 'Front Killers' I find myself fully concentrated and feel my body come in motion. What a fantastic opening song and pay special attention to the lyrics that welcome you to the album and invite you to go ballistic. All of the bands characteristics are fully present and make the music recognisable. One point that does strike on this album is the fact that they have limited the traditional heavy metal influences and have concentrated more on the (hard) rock n' roll. Listen to the tasteful AC/DC, Rose Tattoo en Motˆrhead riffing and the fitting grooves and you know that it's impossible to sit still. Fortunately they haven't totally left out the heavy metal influences and deliver us a NWOBHM-riff from time to time. With the beautiful semi-ballad 'Tomorrow Never Comes' we also get a slight chance to breathe at the end of the album. With 'Outlaw Invasion' Gun Barrel has managed to stay loyal to their roots and still sound a bit different. Although I must admit that the chance that I'd put on the previous record more often is bigger, is this another highly mature album that will surely satisfy the fans of the genre. |
