Smooth One who comes from the abstract hip hop scene, wrote with DJ Cam the first two eponymous albums: 'Underground Vibes' and 'Inflammable Substance' (Sony Music). Then followed a live recording at the "Rennes Transmusicales" festival. After remixing for Air, Tek9, Jean Louis Murat, Silent Poets, La Yellow 357 etc... Smooth One decided to concentrate on film scoring and on his own label Superflux. He wrote the music for the film "New York Zero Zero" (Superflux/Believe) and "Amsterdam Reconstruction" by Jerome Schlomoff. He worked on Catherine Hebert's film "Exit Port St Louis" which included the CD "Exit Remix" (Superflux/Believe) with remixes of Elecktrokut, Laurent HO and Junior Cony.

In the black box 'Industrial Welfare' there's an audio CD including 14 tracks composed by Smooth One, on computers and machines. The base guitarist Mourad Baali, and turntablist DJ Hak (and the voice of French famous novelist Colette on 'Le Jardin D'Acclimatation') also collaborated.
Also included is a DVD of the film ' Dock Hotel' directed by the photographer and video maker Catherine Hebert, with original music by Smooth One.Then a booklet of photography by Catherine Hebert completes the pack.
Unconvinced by the immutable format of song, Smooth One delivers with 'Industrial Welfare' music which is essentially modal based on harmonics, tones and rhythmic juxtapositions. Mixed with the jazz and hip-hop influence of his early days are repetitive music, ambient, hints of dub and post rock. Ultimately, 'Industrial Welfare' is an album to be classed alone. It is both electronic and acoustic while exploring today's technology, searching for maximum emotion. Emotion is the main driving force in this CD, elegant and ultra modern, swinging form violent to contemplative but above all poetic.
