Sounds Like Inertia

user posted image

Label: Inertia
Country: UK
Released: 1998
Genre: Electronic
Style: Electro-Jazz/Downtempo/Breaks

Inertia's 12-track compilation album showcases the label so far and delivers a taste of what's to come from Inertia. First up is the latest offering from HEFNER our in-house beat scientist. FIENDISH is the sublime result of his latest sonic research - an intoxicating potion of sweet harmonies and shuffling beats made to Hefner's secret formula. Also included here is the glorious digital breakbeat mayhem of CAR CHASE (scene II) originally the b-side of Hefner's first single for Inertia. The album also showcases two new tunes from the THE MIGHTY STRINTH. WAIT is slickly programmed, gently rolling drum'n'bass combined with live drums, electric bass, guitar, keyboards and an angelic voice interwoven with subtle tenor saxophone lines. This contrasts sharply with MONKHAM HALL, an experience in live jazz-jungle-fusion from beyond the land of the living. Also included is last year's ambient epic WHAT IS IT? - the ultimate chill. GRAND NIP (aka Yod & Surgical plus guests), suppliers of Inertia's first 12" release last year, make a contribution to the album with a remix of I GO SOLO the debut single by Swedish art-thrash-rockers PSYCORE. Also to be heard are three imaginary film-noir cut-n-paste theme tunes from inside the mind of BASILDON BOND, our newly fostered beat-baby. His own theme tune BASILDON BOND is dedicated to Russ Abbott (!), PALMER is his sinister tribute to Harry, who else? and UNDERTOE is like Roger Moore, as The Saint, touching base with The French Connection In a cocktail bar sometime in the next millenium. WEBS OF RESISTANCE, a mesmerising and ominous soundscape of swirling rhythm and ambience from digi-tech-dubsmith SPINFORM, DOUBLE ZERO a large slab of mutating techno-step-beat the flipside of the GREENBACK single, and an infectious dose of mellow, string-laden hip-hop-soul-jazz from Swiss producers I'CARE featuring saxophonist Ernie Odoom and Mike Robert on double bass, make up the rest of the collection. the first movement in the Inertia symphony...... - inertia.co.uk
