Review By J. A. Peacock (amazon.co.uk)
I'm quite surprised nobody has reviewed this excellent disc so far.

Immerseel has a distinguished pedigree within the period instrument movement and has already given us a set of Mozart's `Complete Solo Clavier Concertos' on the Channel Classics label, Mozart: Complete Solo Clavier-Concerte [Box Set] ; in itself, that is quite an undertaking and, as you might expect, he is not equally successful in every one of those works - few pianists would be, I imagine, in such a wide-ranging project. It is still a sterling and highly recommendable set, however, full of delights.

On this disc he returns to the studio to give us Mozart's Concerto for Two Pianos, KV.365; there are no doubts or quibbles about the success of his interpretation here and he plays with marvellous dexterity and sensitivity. The fortepianos have a beautiful tone and when the soloists play lightly, almost a harp-like translucency to them. The Flute and Harp Concerto, KV.299, and Horn Concerto, KV.447, make for an apt coupling and provide the listener with a nicely varied but complementary programme. Both of those are also played delightfully by the soloists - the period flute has a nice pastoral quality to it that you just don't get in modern instruments.

What really comes across from all the performers on this disc, be it the orchestra or soloists, is the sheer joy they find in these works - they have an evident delight in performing these pieces, which is a pleasure in itself, but they also consistently bring out the intrinsic high spirits and tenderness of Mozart's invention. The faster movements of the piano concerto have a real effervescence.

This disc gets an unequivocal recommendation from me - it contains music making of the first order, in music guaranteed to lift the heart.
