I've written this quick guide to take away the confusion inherent to this topic. It answers questions like:

- if I use a certain CUE sheet, will I get a 1:1 CD copy?
- are albums from Pedro's 1:1 copies?

In what follows, I'll assume you have read this short guide (including the small text).

Now it should be clear that for each ripping method there is only 1 'appropriate' type of CUE sheet. Using another CUE sheet will generally result in a faulty CD copy (see further).

Let's now see how the different ripping methods deviate from the ideal 1:1 copy. And what the effect is of using CUE sheets other than the appropriate one.
Consider a general 2 track CD, consisting of G1, T1, G2, T2 (abbreviations as in the mentioned guide) :

image + CUE sheet:
- results in the single WAV file G1 T1 G2 T2
- all original audio samples included? yes
- 1:1 copy when burnt with appropriate CUE sheet? yes
append gaps to next track:
- results in the 2 WAV files G1 T1 and G2 T2
- all orig audio samples included? yes
- 1:1 copy when burnt with appropriate CUE sheet? yes
- 1:1 copy when burnt with other CUE sheet? no: all audio samples included but pause positions will be wrong (e.g. player pauses too late: inside T2)
Pedro's method (a.k.a. 'append gaps to previous track'):
- results in the 2 WAV files T1 and G2 T2
- all orig audio samples included? G1 is missing, everything else OK
- 1:1 copy when burnt with appropriate CUE? no: silence is used to replace the missing G1. Result = 1:1 copy with silenced G1
- 1:1 copy when burnt with other CUE sheet? no
leave out gaps
- results in the 2 WAV files T1 and T2
- all audio samples included: ALL gaps missing, everything else OK
- 1:1 copy when burnt with appropriate CUE sheet? no: 1:1 copy with ALL gaps silenced
- 1:1 copy when burnt with other CUE sheet? definitely no

Note that G1 is in fact not very important (, which explains why this community trades it away for more convenient software playback):
- CD players don't play G1 (unless you rewind back below zero seconds)
- G1 is often not even present on the original CD (in that case Pedro's rules give a 1:1 copy)
- if present it is usually only 0.33 seconds of silence
- occasionally it is a 'song', a so-called 'hidden track' (which you might find valuable)

Some people add G1 as an extra file to their torrent. The purpose is to allow for creating G1 T1 G2 T2, which can then be burnt to get a 1:1 copy, either with the 'range' a.k.a. 'image' CUE sheet, or, with any other CUE sheet on condition it is correctly edited to include G1. (how to is explained in Lontananza's guide)
Using that range CUE on T1 G2 T2 will result in misplaced pauses (the longer G1, the further in the music pause positions will be wrong).

Suppose you downloaded an album from Pedro's and want to know what G1, T1, etc. are...
These albums include a EAC logfile, containing excerpts such as:

In the above example G1 is 2.33 - 2.00 = 0.33 seconds' long

In the above example G1 is 0 seconds' long

Burning an album from Pedro's without CUE sheet: a good idea?
- all audio samples included? yes (apart from G1 of course)
- 1:1 copy? pauses will be shrunk down to zero seconds, and their content is not lost but simply played as part of the preceeding song. This may sound worse than it is: this is exactly how a software player like foobar2000 plays back your music (even when playing back an image + CUE).
- P.S. Nero users burning without CUE: please read the notice on Nero in the guide I referred to at the start of this post.

кроме этого, если в non-compliant куе переименовать wav->flac в названиях треков, эта тулзень сама их собирает в wav образ. проверялось неоднократно, размеры совпадают полностью с фубаровским методом
