QUOTE
ZBIGNIEW NAMYSLOWSKI - Born in Warsaw 09.09.1939. He studied piano and cello in music schools in Krakow and Warsaw, and he played on these two instruments on his first jazz performance in Sopot International Jazz Festival in 1957. Then he played also trombone in traditional groups. But soon he switched to alto sax wich became his mam instrument.
In early 60s. he formed the group Jazz Rockers which included Michal Urbaniak on tenor sax. In 1962 they both jointed The Wreckers quintet for a mont-long, coast-to-coast tour in the USA that culminated in their appearance an the Newport Jazz Festival.
Namyslowski subsequently formed his own quartet, scoring a huge succes in England, where he recorded an album in 1964 "LOLA", Decca SLK 4644. He went on perform all over Europe on almost all major jazz festivals. He performed also in Israel, India, Australia, New Zeland, the USA., Cuba and in Mexico.
Namyslowski's albums, recorded in Poland, Germany, England, Sweden (with Tony Williams on drums), Italy, Greece, Hungary and the USA., demonstrate his outstanding improvisational talent, his composing skills and his inventiveness, which is rooted in jazz but always open to new trends. Perhaps the best proof of his oryginality is his convincing fusion of jazz, rock and polish and other folk music. Basicly his saksophone lines are rooted in Coltrane music. He is fine interpreter of jazz standards, yet his records are made up almost exclusively of his compositions, which-if-he had been born in America - might have become standards.
KRZYSZTOF HERDZIN - Born 1970. Graduated Academy of Music (classical piano) in Bydgoszcz. Very talented jazz and classical pianist. He is also very good composer and arranger. One and a half year in Namyslowski's band.
CEZARY PACIOREK - Born 1968. Graduated Academy of Music (accordion) in Gdansk. He is unquestional master of this instrument in jazz. Better known in Poland as a pianist. He also plays organ in churches. Since he became a member of a Namyslowski's band, can reveal and show his master class as the accordion player.
OLO WALICKI - His whole family representes fine arts. Fianesee too. Born in 1974. One of the most talented young bassplayers in Poland. He can play very modern jazz. free, traditional as well as rock. Fascinated by rythmical trans, so his rythmis steady like a mashine.
GRZEGORZ GRZYB - Born 1971. Nobody can memorise the song so instantly like him. "Absolute memory". Incredible technick. Crazy about drumming, can play day'n night long. Very strong. For 2 years he was a professional sport cyclist. His father was a very inventive drums maker. Beeing in the USA he mightheve become a very rich, but he'd never patented his inventions. Unfortunatly for Grzegorz.
GRZEGORZ NAGORSKI - Born in 1964. Simple - the greatest Polish jazz trombonist. He studied at the best Academies: from Katowice to Miami. He played with all Polish jazz groups. Still in journey - during the 90's he plays in all the world. Friend of Ira Sullivan. Tito Puente and Ray Charles, Joe Henderson, Michael Brecker, Red Rodney and Charlie Persip.
PIOTR WOJTASIK - Born in 1964 in Wroclaw. Proffesor of Music Academy in department of jazz. He performed on many festivals like: Jazz Jamboree in Warsaw. Jazz and Blues in Stockholm. Molde Jazz Festival. Festival De Radio France and others. He cooperated and recorded with many famous musicians, among others: Billy Harper, Carter Jefferson, David Friesen, Buster Williams, Ben Riley. Who's next?...
JOSE TORRES - Born in Habana (Cuba). He came to Poland in 1979. Studied at the Music Academy in Wroclaw. The legend of Polish music. Played on every important record since 1982.

What critics said

"When I first visited Poland. I was quite unprepared to hear Polish musicians at so high level. Namyslowski was clearly the best. International voting has proved that audiences in Europe recognise the best Polish musican as among the best anywhere in the world. He honors 3 traditions, of jazz, of Polish, of himself. Anyone who misses Namyslowski is missing a unique source of creativity in 20th century. Namyslowski is a giant!" (Willis Connover)

"Namyslowski's group is bo doubt the best formation in Europe and along with Dizzy was the highlighte of the festival..." (Burnette James - JAZZ JOURNAL)

"The American supergroup "The Crusaders" failed to be main attraction of the Kristianstad Jazz Festivaal The appearance of Namyslowski' group highlighted the concert. There is no doubt that he us one of the leading saxopohonist in the world today." (Ola Sigvardson - ARBETET)

"... two gigants of the festival: Sonny Rollins and incredible alto saxman Zbigniew Namyslowski..." (INDIAN EXPRESS)

...recent relase of Namyslowski is superb. I like the nice clean edge of his tone that reminds me of F Voods. I'm not much of a be-bopper and I like Namyslowski's sound of plaing more then Phil's" (Tom Schnabel - NATIONAL PUBLICRADIO, Santa Monica CA.)

"The system of musical education in Eastern Europe produces exellent musicians. Namyslowski and us group have confirmed this opinion. All the members of this formation are very good instrumentalists vhose techanique is truly professional. (...) Namyslowski himself is a remarkable saxophonist: daring, intensive and very active. He keeps his audience spell bound with the clear and precise sound on his alto and sopranino saxes. Namyslowski has apperared in Sweden many times before so I knew I would isten to some really high class music." (Jonny Olson - WERMLANDS TIDNINGEX)
