Hi, I am sorry to say, but this is not a true lossless file. Perhaps it came from a pirated CD. It is still good music and doesn't kill your ears to listen to, but it is in everybody's interest that files that were originally mp3s are not circulated as lossless music. After all, why bother wasting harddrive space and download time for lossless formats if the technical quality is the same as mp3? It has been sourced from mp3 which is shown quite clearly in the screenshot below. MP3 compression reduces the signals between 16-20kHz and the red top of the spectrum should look natural and irregular and be placed at the lowest slightly above 20kHz. Instead it has been cut off neatly at precisely 16kHz and left some blocky signals in the band above, chunky blocks that are another clear sign of compression. |
