Crush 40 is a melodic hard rock project powered by the songwriting of San Francisco-based Japanese guitar player, Jun Senoue and lead singer Johnny Gioeli from HARDLINE. Their songs have high energy, contoured with smooth melodies and chorus sections featuring Johnny's emotional vocals and Jun's unique style of guitar. Jun was born and raised in Japan. He started playing piano at the early age of 3 and became devoted to rock music while living in Panama at the age of 12. He tried to play keyboards, bass... but finally he got his first electric guitar at 15, rocking to records and the radio. He joined and formed several bands in Japan. Since the debut album from HARDLINE was released in 1992, Jun has dreamt of teaming up with a singer like Johnny. After graduating from college in 1993, Jun joined SEGA as a music composer for videogames. He wrote hard rockin' songs with Eric Martin (MR.BIG), Tony Harnell (TNT, WEST WORLD), Ted Poley (DANGER DANGER, MELODICA) and Paul Shortino (ROUGH CUTT). Jun has also released several albums in Japan. As the sound producer and main music composer of the videogame "SONIC ADVENTURE" (SEGA / Dreamcast 1998), he was able to contact Johnny thru Doug Aldrich and they tracked their 1st song, "Open Your Heart" in Los Angeles. The relationship between Jun and Johnny was born as they kept in contact, creating music, which they released in the album "Thrill Of The Feel" under the name "SONS OF ANGELS" in 2000 from JVC records for Japanese market. And also they tracked the song "Live & Learn" which became the main theme of "SONIC ADVENTURE 2 Battle" in 2001. In 2002, they decided to once again team up and form a brand new hard rock project named "Crush 40". This project, which started out as fun, has brought both talents together to write and play music together once again. Currently, Crush 40 is working on their 2nd album that is set to rock the world in 2003! Included on this record are the rock solid rhythm section of Naoto Shibata (bass) and Hirotsugu Homma (drums) who are members of Japanese band called "ANTHEM" (JVC records). Also they were previous band members of "LOUDNESS" while tracking these songs and have played at the DYNAMO OPEN AIR festival in 1999. Hirotsugu has also played drums for the band "E.Z.O." (Geffen records).
