The ADC was an e-mu 0202. All cables are Grover Silver reference. Monitoring was via an Audio Synthesis DAX Discrete DAC, Krell FPB400cx power amp and Wilson Benesch speakers.

Unsurprisingly Sgt. Pepper has been voted the "Definitive Album http://www.definitive200.com/ by NARM

To these ears this is the definitive version. This should blow your socks off!

интересно узнать мнение специалистов, как аудиокарта на компе, сам процесс перегонки. Проверить удалось пока только на компе, звук "теплый" ("виниловый" :)), очень классно сделаны басы. вот спектр:

I tried all the usual suspects - MoFi, EG reissues, CD, 30th Anniversary, 2005 re-master editions etc but none took me back to that live performance. Then I discovered the Loricraft Pro record cleaner and decided to try cleaning my original Island pink label ILPS-9111 out of curiosity. After cleaning several times with Art du Son cleaner I put it on the SME and discovered time travel! This original has to be the best version of this album bar none. People rave about the MoFi version but comparing the two physically there is an inch of dead wax on the Mo-Fi, the Island has less than half an inch - so the MoFi has to have reduced dynamics. The sound is dramatically different (almost like two different performances) with the MoFi lacking the attack and raw strident sound of the original, almost the 'easy listening' option and nowhere near the live performance.

This Island pink label disc still has some pops and clicks even after extensive cleaning but not bad for 37 years of use. The sound more than compensates as it is the only version from the original master tapes, which were lost for 30 years. The side 1 master has only recently been discovered. Recorded twenty four/ninety six. Play it loud.

да, но это 16bit/44.1Khz версия. Я говорил про 24bit/96Khz, из которой можно замутить DVD-A диск :)

На данный момент это лучшие виниловые трансферы, что бродят в сети. Всё-таки использовались нормальные провода и аппаратура воспроизведения, внешняя, пусть и не самая лучшая, карточка, с нормальным ЦАПом, что гарантирует отсутствие внутренних наводок компьютера. Битлз вообще идеально перенесён. Никакой постобработки, но, судя по нескольким перегрузкам (клипам), он таки использовал нормализацию до -0.5 дБ. Всего несколько щелчков, которые можно локализовать вручную. Короче, там работы только склеить всё в один файл, подрезать начальную/конечную тишину, убрать 5 явных кликов, и можно делать DVD-Audio. Что касается Кримсона, то его звук мне нравится ещё больше, хотя в этом трансфере куча виниловых артефактов и шумов коробления диска. Виниловые артефакты (clicks/crackles) локализуются довольно легко, не искажая оригинального звука, а шумы коробления диска практически не мешают прослушиванию. К сожалению, первая сторона обрезана до того, как затихнет последний звук, это напрягает. :( Так же, как и у Битлз, было несколько клипов и использовалась нормализация до -0.5 дБ. В целом тут доводок до идеала чуть больше, но результат того стОит.
