Jauchzet Gott in allen Landen! (Celebrate God in all countries) – that is the title and start of the text in Johann Sebastian Bach’s famous cantata for soprano, solo-trumpet and orchestra. And how they celebrate here! The singer and the trumpeter put up a happy duel with each other, driving the motifs and coloraturas ever higher – a virtuoso piece de resistance par excellence. At present there are certainly no better suited performers for this cantata than Ruth Ziesak (Soprano) and Reinhold Friedrich (Trumpet). She is equally at home on the opera stage and in a concert hall, overwhelming the public worldwide with her singing, which, with all of its charisma and virtuosity, never oversteps the boundaries of musical limits. "Here sparkle stars, so carefree and playfully does the singer master the most virtuoso passages and extreme highs," wrote the press after a performance of this cantata with Ruth Ziesak. He is said to be a modern "thinking" virtuoso, eliciting all conceivable shadings from his instrument, which is often enough misused for displays of strength, and additionally feeling himself obligated in equal measure to both historical performance practice and avant garde. Ruth Ziesak and Reinhold Friedrich make music together with the Berliner Barock-Compagney, the chamber formation of the Academy for Old Music Berlin, which regularly reaps in prizes for their recordings. This programme is complemented with spiritual and temporal baroque music from Graupner, Zelenka, Rosenmuller et al..
