Fantaisie de concert en Ut Mineur 11:21 Recorded on the Stoltz-Dargassies organ of the church of St Joseph-des-Nations in Paris, Klicka's organ works express not only his suffering at Bohemia's fate, but also his love for the folk tunes of his native land. The influence of Liszt and Smetana can be felt, and some textures call to mind Brahms. His melodies have very strong emotive power and his expressive harmonies are typical of Eastern Europe. The organist Michel Estellet-Brun has been familiar with works of Klicka for several decades: almost forty years ago, during the Communist era, a Slovak publisher risked imprisonment to send him a bundle of scores by this composer. Michel Estellet-Brun transcribed the manuscript of Klicka's Fantasy and Fugue in C minor and arranged his Legenda in D minor (originally for harmonium) for the organ. He also gave the first performances of the composer's Fantasy on the St Wenceslas chorale at Notre Dame, Paris, St. Paul's Cathedral, London, and in the Basilica at Olomouc (Czech Republic).
