Your Majesty Gaia 10. Luxaeterna label: scarecrow records Aquaria are: Vitor Veiga - Vocals Leandro Gomes - Guitars Fernando Giovannetti - Bass Bruno Agra - Drums Alberto Kury - Keyboards Aquaria, what’s that? Can I hear you ask. Well, the band started in 1999 under the name Uirapuru. After two demos "Here comes the life" and "Flames of trinity" the response was enormous. Record labels, especially from Japan, asked the band for their first full lenght CD. But the band turned all those offers down and changed route. The name was changed to Aquaria and the band started some serious work. They gathered some important people and thus recorded the debut CD "Luxaeterna". The album is recorded by Philip Collodetti, famous for his work with Angra, Kamelot, Heavenly and many more bands. The mixing and mastering is done by Sasha Paeth, a well known name in the (symphonic) power metal field. But was it all worth the effort? Read on and you’ll know. The album starts with an great intro, with a choir singing and some symphonic sounds. After the intro is finished the show begins. Song after song, Aquaria astonishes me. All the tracks are of great quality. Pure symphonic melodic metal, clearly influenced by the great Brasilian band Angra. It’s very obvious the "Holy Land" CD is an enormous influence on Aquaria. "Spirits of light" for instance has the same atmosphere as "Carolina IV" ,but they didn’t rely on the influence alone. "Judgement Day", a track which clocks more than ten minutes, has many moods. "Let the show begins" sounds like Heavenly. But before you think they are only a clone of afformentioned bands, this is not the case. It’s true you can here all the influences but Aquaria mixes them so well, it’s forgiven. Listen to "Choice Time" and be astounded, Epica, Angra, Kamelot and Symphony X all in almost seven minutes song. Great! By the way, "Luxaeterna" has a great story through the songs. But I won’t tell you what it’s all about, you should read it yourself. If you’re a fan of symphonic melodic metal this is a CD you can’t afford to miss.
