QUOTE
Already responsible for the seminal Buddha Bar series with Claude Challe, French label Bar De Lune have also released the three Apericlub compilations. Before L’Apericlub, the first volume, was released earlier this year, and counts gems such as Weekender’s Sunday Special, Kings Of Tomorrow featuring Julie McKnight with the beautifully crafted Finally, Faze Action’s In The Trees or the White Wall Tea Party mix of Alex Gopher’s classic The Child to name but a few. The mood here is laidback and invites to sit down and take a slow sip of chilled white wine. Second in the series, After L’Apericlub opens with the ultra chilled Ready For Us from Fug, before taking a more club-y turn with Limos’s The Night (Goes On). This album includes classic moments by Crazy Penis (Get It On), Bent (the brilliant Francois K Vocal Mix of Swollen), Ambusher (the funky Super Science) and Ian Pooley featuring Esthero (Balmes). Still displaying a somewhat relaxed atmosphere, After L’Apericlub leans more towards classy deep house than its predecessor. Latest in the series, L’Apericlub Sélect is the essential soundtrack of a night on a dance floor. Definitely put together with club life in mind, this third edition is more upfront in its offer. Kicking off in style, with Kings Of Tomorrow’s Young Heart, the compiler string incredibly strong moments one after the other. STP featuring Kevin Yost (An American In Paris), Hooverphonic (Francois K reworks the beautiful Mad About You in style), Jersey Street (Disappear) or Bent (the Mahavishnu Dub mix of Always closes the album) are amongst the most appealing tracks presented here.
These four albums could well have been designed as the perfect soundtrack for a day in your life, with F Communication taking care of the office, and Bar De Lune taking you by the end from the early evening to the end of the night. All absolutely essential.
