QUOTE (Steve Hoffman)
The first US Atlantic ABBA Greatest Hits CD is the best sounding (IMO) of all of them issued so far.
Long out of print and not including the later hits, it sounds pretty much like the USA LP version.

The reason that the American ABBA G. H. has any kind of tonality to it at all is (I think) BECAUSE it's a dub of a dub of a dub.
Each analog pass "mellowed" the sound out a bit. If it wasn't for that, I dunno. Those engineers at Metronome must have really been using some crappy monitors...Maybe left over from some Bergman movie or something..

Try and find any old ABBA CD on Atlantic!
Amazing sound (for ABBA that is....)

Greatest Hits is a compilation album by Swedish pop group ABBA, released in 1975 (see 1975 in music). Greatest Hits was rush-released in Scandinavia in November 1975 to counter expected import sales of similar collections released by licencees in Europe, such as French Disques Vogue's ABBA's Greatest Hits and West German Polydor's The Best Of ABBA. The album was the best selling album of 1976 in the UK and the second-best selling album in the UK for the 1970s. Its compilation successor was Greatest Hits Vol. 2, released in 1979.

Greatest Hits Vol. 2 was a compilation album by Swedish pop group ABBA, released in October 1979 to coincide with their tour of North America and Europe. It was ABBA's second chart-topping album of the year, the first being Voulez-Vous, and contained the new single "Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)", recorded in August 1979.

Thank you for the music, yury_usa!
