After some extensive touring the band released their "Metal Law" CD/DVD Box and just now the "Sons of the new Millennium" EP was put out in anticipation of the album that I now have before me. Majesty brings us mid-paced Heavy Metal which mostly reminded me of modern sounding Manowar. The music all sounds very good and of a high quality level, with a lot of catchy rhythms that are very suitable to sing along in a big venue or festival. But the complaint about it, is that it all sounds so very cliché and standard. A lot of times I could already predict a riff or drum part before it had been played. This really makes the listening experience a bit boring at times, but I do have to urge that what they play, sounds quite good. Vocalist Tarek Maghary also does a good job, with a very powerful yet clear voice and can really keep up with the Majesty’s music. The very cliché feeling also hit me in the lyrics. Sure, Majesty might consider themselves to be a "True Metal" band, but does every song really has to be about Heavy Metal and how great it is and how it came straight from hell and it will rule the world forever and ever? Sure, I don’t mind this a few times but nine or ten songs about the same subject is just too much for me. As a conclusion I can say that "Hellforces" is an alright album. If you’re a fan of "True" metal and lyrics about everything that has to do with Heavy Metal look no further. However, if you are looking for something innovative or original, please keep on looking. |
