Dead Voices on Air (DVOA) is Mark Spybey's main musical project. It was formed in 1992 when he emigrated to Canada from his native England. Using improvisation and sound layering as a source for their music, DVOA blends processed sound from primitive instruments and toys into rhythmic structures or dark clusters of ambient sound. The result is music for the eyes. This is not ambient chill-out, nor is it music for wallpaper. It is organic, eclectic improvisation, cut up and spat out. Either framed into short pieces of music or rough blocks of noise. Panambience is the term coined that perhaps frames this approach most adequately.

Dead Voices On Air is Mark Spybey s first project since moving to Vancouver from the UK were he collaborated with Cevin Key of Skinny Puppy His association with Zoviet France paved the way for further experimentation in improviced sound constructions, utilizing the studio as a musical instrument This means no rules, no restrictions and no samplers The result is deeply layerd in clusters of sound, which allows the listners to paint there mental images, to think, to use imagination Music that demands attention and is definately not your typical walpaper ambiance Spyber is a regular collaborator with members of Skinny Puppy, he will also be featured on the CD-ROM History of Industrial Noise Culture: Restless Machines
