Review: A very novel tribute record, Twang spotlights the music of Hank Marvin and the Shadows. Clearly one of the biggest influences on surf as well as British rock & roll, the Shadows' music (aside from their work with Cliff Richard) was always marked by a clean precision that welded R&B, country, rock and other influences perfectly. The re-recordings here bear this out. One of the finest is the collaboration of Randy Bachman and Neil Young on "Spring Is Nearly Here." It's a gorgeous arrangement, augmented by Young's trademark intensity. Several other standouts include testimonials by Peter Frampton, Peter Green, Brian May, and others. A real must for fans of the art of the electric guitar. Track List: 1 Apache - Ritchie Blackmore 3:14 2 FBI - Brian May 3:13 3 Wonderful Land -Tony Iommi 4:43 4 The Savage - Steve Stevens 5:05 5 The Rise and Fall of Flingel Bunt [live] - Hank Marvin 4:17 6 Midnight - Peter Green ... 2:42 7 Spring Is Nearly Here - Neil Young, Randy Bachman 4:32 8 Atlantis - Mark Knopfler 3:09 9 The Frightened City - Peter Frampton 4:08 10 Dance On - Keith Urban 2:54 11 Stringray - Andy Summers 3:50 12 The Stranger - Fleck, Bela & The F ... 3:47
