From 1999 to 2006 All India Radio evolved from a DJ Shadow-esque solo act with world music flavours into a post-rock instrumental band with "lonesome sagebrush guitar meets swirling deep-space technology," (SPIN). They collected along the way numerous accolades including a John Peel album of the week, an ARIA nomination, music in the US TV series One Tree Hill, Michael Moore’s hit film Sicko as well as Big Brother, Bondi Rescue, Canal Road and Compass.
In 2007 they signed to legendary Chicago based label Minty Fresh (The Cardigans, Veruca Salt) followed by a US tour and a collaboration with The Church’s Steve Kilbey. More recently, All India Radio have scored the music to acclaimed three-part TV series The Passionate Apprentice, which will be aired on SBS TV beginning 25 June 2008.
It’s no wonder that critics feel that their music should be placed in film. Even WONKA VISION claims that "they’re one Sophia Coppola film soundtrack away from being the next big thing ... the music is beautiful and organic with enough depth to keep coming back for multiple listening sessions."
Now All India Radio has taken another evolutionary step. Leona Prue joined the band on vocals, and the band’s fifth album Fall is the result. Drawing from their previous ambient and atmospheric styles, Leona’s vocals lift the band out of the post rock doldrums into the realm of the heavenly. Comparisons to Cinematic Orchestra, Zero 7 and Portishead now sit alongside comparisons of old - Boards Of Canada, Sigur Ros and Ennio Morricone. Released on 21 July through Vitamin Distribution, Fall is a stunningly beautiful album, with entrancing vocals and lush cinematic sound scapes. Key tracks include the string-drenched lushness of ‘Persist’ and title track ‘Fall’ the atmospheric ambience of ‘Morning Drops’ and the intense dark pop of ‘Endless Night’. Guests include Graham Lee (from legendary Aussie band The Triffids and classic KLF albums Chill Out and The White Room), who plays stunningly atmospheric pedal steel guitar and Australian experimental cellist Emily Williams.

Fall is a chilled-out, inviting, and indulgent experience with leading single Persist introducing loose grooves and subtle middle-eastern vocal and string arrangement which inspire multiple listens. But by far, the most rewarding and standout track for the listener is The End Or Near, a truly beautiful experience with intricate beats and ambient soundscapes that transport you back to memories of lost love. Further listening through Fall exposes a strong attachment to the Cocteau Twins and the vocal stylings of Katie Noonan which have melancholic tendencies throughout. ~ rtrfm.com.au

мне воспринялось в понятиях alternative pop, indie pop, trip-hop, electronic/pop - все так меланхолично полуэлектронное.
примечательно, все их альбомы, который alexone релизил, ни один друг на друга не похожи - в каждом иное звучание/направление. Echo Other больше всего понравился, по отношению к другим 2-м он такой попопсовее что ли, повеселее, мягче. а этот, мне кажется, любителям indie должен понравится...

Мой любимый альбом у All India Radio - Permanent Evolutions.
Он наполовину состоит из ремиксов, но мне на нём всё очень нравится.
Я сначала услышал именно его - купил сразу же...
Потом заказал все остальные 6 дисков. Они действительно отличаются друг от друга.

Альбомы - бомба!!!!! Огромная благодарность за все релизы и радио в частности!!!
