The more I listen to this album, the more I find this to be a rather pale conclusion of Planets. This album really doesn't have any new surprises. Planets was an album that demonstrated the band was able to put out a great album in the new decade, a difficult task for many '70s bands who, in general, had a really difficult time making anything worthwhile after 1977 or '78 (or in the case of many British bands, 1975). Time to Turn just sounds like a band moaning and groaning that they needed to get their Planet Salta story finished and lost enthusiasm with it. At this point, the band brought back drummer Fritz Randow (for the first time since Power and the Passion in 1975), but that really didn't help, quality-wise. It's not a bad album, but just doesn't live up to the heights of Planets. There are some good songs here like "Behind the Walls of Imagination", "Magic Mirrors", "End of an Odyssey", and "Say, Is It Really True". The latter being one of the few acoustic pieces Eloy has ever done ("Future City" from Inside is that other example). But the band's synth sound is just not so impressive here, sure there's a combination of '70s and early '80s synths here (Mini Moog, polyphonic synths), and there's oddly more clavinet here than on any other album they ever did (and that's strange, since the clavinet is more associated with the '70s, not the '80s). Time to Turn is basically the sound of a band still reluctant to enter the 1980s, but it's also the sound of a band whose '70s space rock sound has pretty much reached a dead-end. Pretty much buy only if you're an Eloy fan. Whatever the case, I much prefer Planets over this one.

"Planets" я еще не слышал, поэтому сравнить не могу. Мое имхо - хороший, ровный (за исключением может только "The Flash") альбом, хотя и не супер.

Я бы тоже выделил "Behind the Walls of Imagination", "Magic Mirrors" и "End of an Odyssey". Еще первая вещь "Through A Somber Galaxy", своим характерным синтезаторным звуком сразу же вводящая в атмосферу этого альбома, тоже очень хороша. "Time To Turn" (композиция) на фоне остальных вещей звучит немного попсово, наверно благодаря этому она и стала в свое время хитом.

В общем, если этот альбом по мнению критиков слабее первого ("Planets"), то тогда я с еще большим интересом буду ждать прихода первой части этой дилогии (спасибо Флоггеру преогромнейшее).
