This is a great album - no flab on it anywhere despite the additional take on tracks than in some cases prove more irritating than revealing - but not here. Hawkins and Webster sound excellent, and interestingly for an album made in the late fifties it sounds really contemporary. A good mix of songs and styles from blues to smoky ballads, all kept ticking over by a blue-chip accompanyment from Oscar Peterson and co.
