All the more if you know this band was founded in the end of 2004. There is no way you can hear this band is so young. When I first listened to this record, I thought I was dealing with a big and famous band from the metal scene of Cyprus. The sound of Winter's Verge is really good. It gives me the feeling these gentlemen are playing together for many, many years. The style of Winter's Verge is somewhere between good old-school heavy metal and today's power metal. But with a little touch of epic and progressive metal. This fine musical mix makes Eternal Damnation a very colorful and strong album. Which is very pleasant to listen to. The guitar player Harry Pari, whom is only 19 years old, has written some very impressive guitar riffs and solos. Singer George Chanralambous has a very warm and good vocal sound. He sings his self-written lyrics with a lot of passion. Once in a while, you can hear a grunt from bass player Miguel Trapezaris, this gives a new and refreshing touch to the songs. I really think this band can make it. All of the songs are technically very well written, and no DJ can ignore this much quality. Some highlights of the album are 'Get Me Out', 'Can You Hear Me', 'To You I Shall Sail Tonight', and the powerful 'For I Have Sinned',which starts with a very remarkably good bass intro. The young gentlemen of Winter's Verge have called in the help of R.D. Liapakis, better known as singer of Mystic Prophecy. Liapakis has produced this album and with the cooperation of Winter's Verge has led to a extraordinary record. I'm very impressed by this album! And Winter's Verge must be very proud, there is no doubt about that. http://www.myspace.com/wintersverge |
