Jah Wobble & Bill Laswell - Radioaxiom: A Dub Transmission (Axiom rec. - 2001)

user posted image

Radioaxiom: A Dub Transmission marks a return -- and a new look forward -- to the dub style, with bassists Jah Wobble (formerly of Public Image Ltd. and his own Invaders of the Heart) and Bill Laswell cutting huge trenches of low end beneath a sonic foundry of echo washes, digital delays and pulsating drums. Much in the tradition of modern sound systems and roving "pirate" radio broadcasts, Radioaxiom-A Dub Transmission expands the "dub plate" into uncharted regions of sound and experience, even as the music itself harks back to the studio brilliance of Jamaican producers like Osbourne "King Tubby" Ruddock and Lee "Scratch" Perry -- without whom dub music would not exist today.

Hamid Drake: drums
Sly Dunbar: drums
Nils Petter Molvaer: trumpet
Graham Haynes: cornet, flugelhorn
Nicky Skopelitis: guitar
Ejigayehu 'Gigi' Shibabaw: vocals
Amina Claudine Myers: organ, electric piano
Karsh Kale: percussion
Aiyb Dieng: percussion
Tigist Shibabaw: vocals

Tracklist:

1.Subcode
2.Alsema Dub
3.Virus B
4.Orion
5.6th Chamber
6.Alam Dub
7.Second Sigh
