Three! The amount of albums released featuring Swedish vocalist wonder Nils Patrik Johansson in the past 3 months. There were “Embrace The Galaxy” by Richard Andersson’s Space Odyssey, Astral Doors’ “Of The Son And The Father” and now “Far From The Madding Crowd”, the third album of Swedish symphonic power metal formation Wuthering Heights, can be added to his young but well filled discography.
Johansson joined Wuthering Heights early 2003, thus replacing ex-Street Talk and Tad Morose vocalist Kristian Andrйn. Main man, first guitarist, bass player and songwriter Erik Ravn - yes, he is a normal human being as far as I know – must have thought this change of personnel was the thing his band needed to grow on. And boy was he right! Johansson’s powerful voice (think of Ronnie James Dio and Tony Martin) enhances the epic feeling of Ravn’s fantasy inspired conceptual lyrics and music and what’s more, he can change the emotion of a piece just by altering his way of singing: high and emotional on the folk parts, low and powerful on the metal ones.
Folk parts? Oh, maybe you’re not acquainted with Wuthering Heights’ previous releases. The charm of Ravn’s compositions is in the amalgam of influences: symphonic and classical, speed metal, progressive rock and… folk, indeed. And the latter much more than on the band’s first two efforts, which results in a magical combination of Blind Guardian, Rhapsody and numerous classical and film score composers. Take the “Longing For The Woods” song trilogy for instance. Its catching theme, the around-the-camp-fire pieces that contrast with Johasson’s mighty vocals, an endless series of rhythm changes, … In one word: sublime! But there’s more: “Gather Ye Wild”, the atmospheric instrumental introduction, the fairy-like “The Road Goes Ever On”, the powerful hymn “Tree”, the beautiful “Highland Winds” blessed with a superb chorus and the emotional ballad “Lament For Lуrien”. Have I already mentioned that Tommy Hansen (Helloween and Pretty Maids a.o.) was responsible for the album’s production?
“Far From The Madding Crowd” has almost made as much impression on me as Rhapsody’s debut album did back in 1997. Let’s hope for Wuthering Heights that their career may grow as crescendo as well! (SL)

My god - this release is a must-have. It has constantly been on my car cd-player for 3 weeks - and the quality / substance of the songwriting keeps surprising me. Suddenly I just can't wait to get in the car every morning. I even enjoy spending an hour in the morning traffic - while these tunes just melts me. BRAVO!

к архива нету уже... ето ещо в дойчляндии было.... а оригинал-то есть... есть оригинал... если ни укого не окажется, придется заново рипнуть... куды деваться...

новый оригинал лично меня вполне устроит А начала нет? окончание триногии конечно лучше чем , но хотелось бы и

начало етой трехногии было в Space Odysseyи Astral Doors что-то из них у меня вроде бы есть, но как подумаю, что искать надо - челюсть отваливается...

а - я думал они начали в своих первых двух дисках Темный я....
