Review:
It has been regarded as the best Chinese recording. Now, it's elevated to an even higher level. A selection of the best-known Chinese melodies to illustrate the beauties of Chinese instruments like the erhu, yang-quin, tung-hsiao, pipa and others. The subtlety and texture of these unique instruments are conveyed even more stunningly by the XRCD2 format.

According to First Impression Music, this is the best-sounding disc they have ever produced. Period! Well before its release, this title was chosen as the demo reference recording in the Annual Audio Engineering Society Conference Seminar in June 2003 in Banff, Canada. Four Seasons is Vivaldi’s best-loved work. If you’re not hip to it, it’s about time you get hip. This version features the stunning violin of Giuliano Carmignola. Most audiophiles have probably heard Tsuyoshi’s piano variations on Misty and The Way We Were on the Three Blind Mice label and admired his jazz artistry. After 25 years and on the persistent invitation of FIM, this great jazz pianist has agreed to do a special project for the label. This is a very accessible jazz trio recording, recorded direct-to-two-track, that sounds stunning on SACD. Hybrid Stereo or XRCD 2.

Gary Karr is a very unique double-bass virtuoso, beloved by many who like the mellowness and deep tone of the double bass. Gary’s interpretation of the masters’ works is touching and profoundly musical.
