Sticking to acoustic guitar, McLaughlin is joined by four other guitarists (along with the acoustic bass guitar of Yann Maresz) to create an unusual instrumentation that often sounds as full as a keyboard. The leader arranged ten of Evans's compositions and his own "Homage" for a largely introverted set of music that has a strong classical feel. Если первые альбомы: "The Inner Mounting Flame", "Birds of Fire", "Apocalypse" хорошо известны и встречаются в любом, уважающем себя музыкальном магазине, то с этим альбомом дела обстоят иначе. Львиная доля этого проекта была записана еще в 1971 году, и он должен был выйти 2-м диском после "The Inner Mounting Flame" (кстати, с участием Jean-Luc Ponty - electric violin, Herbie Hancock'а, а также впервые было задействовано использование двух ударных установок - Michael Walden, и вокалистки Gayle Moran), но по каким-то причинам этого не произошло. Переделанный материал вышел в свет только через 3-и года и хотя после "Birds of Fire" и "Apocalypse" он выглядит несколько простовато (если такое слово вообще уместно для творчества John'а McLaughlin'а), но для любителей джаза это настоящий подарок! |

Вот и этот замечательный соло-альбом (который я когда-то сильно критиковал, а со временем полностью изменил мнение) - сдается мне, что я его встречал, однако поиск ничего не дал.
