Povo is a duo consisting of Lars Vissing and Anders Peter Andreasen. They both reside in the Danish capitol Copenhagen, which is well documented as a city where jazz had many bright moments during the early days of jazz. While Lars is one of Denmark’s leading jazz musicians/producers Anders has been living the jazz life since the late 80’s as a record collector, DJ and club promoter. Together they form an impressive alliance where Lars experience as jazz musician and Anders knowledge of the "new" jazz scene will help them to cross any boundaries. The Povo sound is already supported by some of the biggest names in the jazz/dance industry like Gilles Peterson, Koop, Nicola Conte, Jazzanova and Kyoto Jazz Massive. If you like jazz (and not just jazzy grooves) there are only a few acts outside the established jazz community that deliver the true spirit of the "blue notes". We dare to say that Povo (meaning "people" in Portuguese) is on of these rare acts. With a cool blend of Scandinavian live jazz and programmed rhythms they have already made many friends around the world after their releases on the Raw Fusion label. Following many single tracks, their first album has just come out, entitled 'We Are Povo', so we took a chance to have a talk with them.
