As through the world, Ukrainian carols are sung to glorify the birth og Jesus Christ.
Щедрівки or New Years songs are exclusively unique to Ukraine and are sung to ring in the New Year. Ukraine is the only country to have such щедрівки. In the Ukrainian tradition the New Year songs evoke all the goodness of the humanity, the beauty of nature.

Olexander Stadnyk, the Artistic Director and conductor of the VOLYN choir has spent some fifteen years collecting these carols and щедрівки, most of which have never before been recorded. Besides some of the favorites, such as "Добрий Вечір Тобі", or "Нова Радість Стала" and many others, most of which are from the Volyn region of Ukraine.

The voices of the choir blend with the sounds of the orchestra to pervade our being with the euphoria of the Christmas Season, like no other recording to date.
