The DVD soundtrack features a new 5.1 surround and 2.0 stereo mixes by Eddie Kramer, Jimi's original engineer. The CD will feature the brand new, stereo mix heard here for the first time. Yes, it sounds better than ever. And there's no question that this is both a legendary performance and one of rock's most historic moments.

Great sound which (a) restores quite a bit of Mitch's cymbal work and (b) deletes the reverb on Jimi's voice.

I like the new mix too on the CD. They have deleted the long intro on the old CD, where you could here Jimi tuning up, but they have recovered Brian Jones introduction.

It's a Wally Heider recording; so it was well engineered, well recorded. They didn't close mic the audience, so the the applause sounds faint--only coming through stage mic leakage. The overall fidelity of the instruments and voice is great. The only shortcoming is sound/mastering is just a little bright--I assume that's just the sonic signature of Eddie Kramer, as that's consistent with his other CD efforts.

The new CD is the same mix as on the purple box, but less loud fortunately so a bit better sounding. Compared to the '86 Alan Douglas CD it's indeed brighter, and fuller bass. Actually the biggest difference is (except fur the new intro and cut-off intro tuning-up) Wild Thing, with full drum and bass, but guitar volume lower in the mix (or just effect of the centered mix?). Maybe it's 'easier' to the ears, but I like the screaming guitar.

The whole CD is a remix! I just picked it up at lunch, and it sounds waaaay more natural than the original Jimi Plays Monterey release. There's no cheesy delay on the vocals, and you can hear Noel Redding's bass better as well as his vocals. (background on Foxy Lady). There was a sticker on the front that said it was remixed by Eddie Kramer, which scared me, but he did a good job! It just sounds so much more natural!

Очень хороший микс! Молодец старина Eddie Kramer!
Все очень гормонично! Гораздо живей, чем Jimi Plays Monterey от Mark Linnett!
