Yet another flesh-splattering death-fest from Mortician! This band, much like AC/DC provides similar (yet invigorated) goods again and again. This CD doesn't break the eternal science that is Mortician but certainly is a step forward, as always, for the men with axes. Of course, there is not one song that lets up on the constant splatter-brutality so those people who are looking for a melodic escape look elsewhere. This is bass-distorted, splatter-metal that looks only to leave you "hacked up for BBQ". Production wise, I consider this CD a step forward in sound, as the mix is a little warmer and the swirl a bit clearer. The vocals sometimes sound slightly undermixed, but this could be due to the sheer depth of Will Rahmers voice. Some rare form grunting power for sure. My only (small) complaint may be the nature of the drum machine programming, which, due to my obsession with drumming may seem a little under-designed for such material. Even so, this is a MINOR complaint as the riffwork and the vocals do more than enough to clobber me into submission. I'd be interested to hear some of these tracks in a live setting, as of course, the live setting brings out the most violent tendancies of a band. |
