| Review by Scott Yanow Although Dizzy Gillespie gets top billing on this CD, he only appears on two of the ten selections and does not make much of an impression. More significant to the mixed success of this Caribbean-flavored date are the solos of trumpeter Art Farmer, altoist Phil Woods and Bob Berg on tenor. Flora Purim also has a few vocals and the rhythm section (which changes from track to track) has some interesting names. But in general the results are not that memorable and the improvisations are less stirring than one would hope. |
