For decades, Chiyoko Fujiwara had been the most famous actress who starred in various genres of films, until she retired 30 years ago. One day, a producer working on a documentary on Chiyoko's career and life visits her at home in her quiet mountain villa. He brings with him a small old key, which unlocks wondrous secrets within and beyond her memories.
The key was once given to her by a painter when she was still an aspiring young actress. At the time of their encounter, Japan was at war, and the government sought and punished dissidents who opposed war, and the painter was on a run from the military police. Her story is told as the producer interviews her on the films and her roles in them, and the memories unlocked by the key reveals the secrets behind her aspiration to become an actress, and the passion that has survived for decades.
