Though many tracks rely on only slim percussion lines and the occasional atmospheric trumpet sample or live flute solo by Clive Bell, James Hardway's take on moody breakbeat of the jazz-hipster variety is a diverting one. It is Hardway's clever programming and innate sense for when a break becomes a bit too stale which enlivens Deeper, Wider, Smoother, Shit... and makes it an intriguing LP.
