Review by Scott Yanow (AMG) John Surman's sixth ECM release (and third in which he was the only musician) features his playing on baritone, soprano, bass clarinet, recorders, and synthesizer. None of Surman's recordings are without interest, for he puts a surprising amount of intensity and color into his introspective and often sparse explorations. Two of his eight originals on this set were originally written for the ballet Private City. |
Tracks:
1. Portrait Of A Romantic [7:03]
2. On Hubbard's Hill [4:33]
3. Not Love Perhaps [5:20]
4. Levitation [4:06]
5. Undernote [2:44]
6. The Wanderer [5:46]
7. Roundelay [5:15]
8. The Wizard's Song [8:51]
Enjoy!
Greetings
