| Well, here is the third (out of 4) session led by the greatest underrated jazzman of all times: Tina Brooks. It is hard to understand now how this incredible player could be overlooked in his time; he is a terrific player, an original composer and a good bandleader too. Three of his solo sessions were issued only long after his death; he did not record anything past 1961 and was forced to accept minor gigs to make ends meet. He became a drug addict and died in 1974, after having been very sick for some years. But his music is fantastic... |
