Review by Vincent Jeffries

The brainchild of former Keel guitarist Marc Ferrari, Medicine Wheel recorded this debut for Germany's Dream Circle label in 1994. While their commercial metal sound had fallen out of favor in America, fans in Europe and Japan maintained an insatiable appetite for '80s rock, especially when practiced by long-haired Southern Californians like Medicine Wheel. Subsequently, Ferrari and Medicine Wheel (like many practitioners of the domestically spurned music) where able to take advantage of the sizeable worldwide market for their melodic hard rock during the early '90s. Joining Ferrari for this debut release were Danny Gill on guitar, Robbie Harrington on bass, Ray Luzier on drums, and singer Michael Mulholland. The five musicians combined to make a formidable hard rock unit capable of writing and performing more than competent material. Mulholland's voice is strong and clear, but even the staunchest crotch rock supporters will find his cartoonish delivery and cheesy lyrics a bit tough to stomach at times. Fortunately, Mulholland's histrionics manage not to spoil solid tracks like the ballad "My Own Little World," and rockers like "Money to Burn." Fans of '80s melodic rock hero
