Mendelssohn was one of the greatest pure melodists of the romantic period, and that gift is nowhere more in evidence than in his sacred vocal music. This wonderful recording brings together sixteen of his choral works, including several psalm settings and a gorgeous Ave Maria. The singing by the Choir of St. John's College, Cambridge, is spectacular.
