Jacob Praetorius (1586-1651), of Hamburg was the highly regarded first son of Hieronymus Praetorius and organist of St. Petri Church in Hamburg until his death. Harald Vogel plays organ works and the excellent renaissance ensemble of singers and instruments, Weser-Renaissance, led by the well respected Manfred Cordes, explore the charming wedding motets. Characteristics of the Italian Renaissance are so integrated into this north German music that one may easily mistake it for Gabrielli!
