"With this release LRSmedia joins Fox, Disney, Lions Gate, Sony, and MGM in high definition support exclusive to the Blu-ray format. And their entry into the world of high def could not have been better. Showcase highlights 13 performances featuring 20 of the biggest names in Blues and Jazz performing live on the celebrated PBS series. . . Without a doubt this is the best concert video I’ve ever seen. Nothing else even comes close."
DVD-LaserCritique.com"With the onset of BLU-RAY finally at hand, videophiles expect the best, and now, with the release of "LEGENDS OF JAZZ", audiophiles will be equally pleased. ‘THE LEGENDS OF JAZZ’, released by LRSmedia, offers 13 performances from arguably "the best" jazz musicians of all time. The fact that "all" of these performances are top-notch makes this unusual for a collection, whereas even many great collections contain at least one mediocre performance. Not the case here!"
TheManRoom"Legends of Jazz: Showcase' on Blu-ray Disc.....Should make audiophiles with an ear tuned to jazz quite happy."
HighDefDigest"Bringing both classic jazz and Dolby TrueHD to Blu-ray for the first time, indie music distributor LRS Media is set to debut their premiere next-gen disc release with 'Legends of Jazz Showcase.'"
EngadgetHDOne of the ways Blu-ray has trailed HD DVD so far is inclusion of advanced audio codecs, but that will start to turn around later this month when Legends of Jazz "Showcase" is released. As we noted when the series first aired on PBS, it was produced in HD and 5.1 surround sound to enable viewers to fully experience the musicians featured. This disc will be the first Blu-ray release to include a 24-bit Dolby TrueHD 5.1 lossless soundtrack (along with Dolby Digital 5.1and PCM Stereo options) that Dolby Labs exec Craig Eggers says captures "every nuance" of the performance.
