Swedish four-piece Audrey (Website) formed in 2002 and started performing gigs in April of the same year. Having recorded a demo in the studio of an artist's collective in Gothenburg in the summer of 2003, the positive responses were immediate. During the summer and autumn they played more shows, selling over 500 demos in the process.Moving forward a year or so, Audrey began to develop their sound. The embryo of their dark, suggestive pop took its first form in a run-down music house in the archipelago of Gothenburg. "It was really the worst place, the building was about to be demolished as we rehearsed there. The toilet was broken, the pipes had frozen and there were mice running around on the floor", says guitarist Victoria Skoglund.
Describing Audrey's music is no easy task. If the group has succeeded in finding a central theme, it's a balance in the melodies - shimmering, beautiful moments of pop meet dark sadness.
The harmonies (everyone in the group shares vocal efforts) shift quickly between keys and moods. Straightforward, conventional narrative is replaced by abstract meanings which strengthen the melodies. "I like it when the lyrics can mean different things, that we give clues to our audience. Sometimes we can write quite incoherent things, but we are looking for a feeling in the music", says Victoria.
In 2005, they began recording their debut album Visible Forms, released in 2006.

| Audrey's music is not exactly what you'd call cheerful. No. This is sad, melancholic rock. It may even be Post Rock or whatever they call it. Let's just say it has some desolate sounding guitars, weeping cellos and some gloomy melodies to match early Cat Power. Topping it all off are the vocals, female, shared between all members, haunted, pained vocals. Twee is not all that Sweden has to offer. They also bring some funereal rock to the table. The Fierce and The Longing is a perfect title for this album as the overall atmosphere here is of strong yearning, sad yearning. The debut was hazier, more dazed, druggier. This one is fairly direct in its delivery, especially of the vocals. Nevertheless, the songs are fueled by an ache one can hear burning in their debut. |

Все та же воздушная, пуховая мягкость, ненавязчивый вокал, богатые, но простые аранжировки (где используются и струнные, и духовые, и фортепиано), положенные на классическую уже, сформированную шугейзом и дрим-попом 80-х-начала 90-х, основу. Оттуда же взялись и некоторые острые углы, не дающие заскучать, коих не было замечено раньше.Надо сказать, что группа - женская. Может, именно от этого их не слишком-то оригинальные песни излучают такое обаяние и оставляют столь нежное послевкусие? |

| В последнее время заслушиваюсь шведской группой Audrey. Чем-то они мне напоминают Under Byen, только музыка не такая сложная и соответственно слушать Audrey можно гораздо чаще, чем датчан. Мне кажется, что это dream-pop с женским вокалом высокого качества. Вот клип на лучшую песню с первого альбома - Mecklenburg Вообще у Audrey два альбома: Visible Forms (2006) и The Fierce And The Longing (2008). |

Как они поют не знаю ,но брюнетка ,в полосатом шарфике довольно мила.:)
