Ponder for a moment the mere fact that this man has been creating electronic music for over two decades. Consider that during this time he has contributed 21 albums. Now surely not everyone, not even the biggest K. Schulze fan, likes everything he's ever recorded. But if nothing else it can be said that Klaus Schulze is consistant. Of course consistancy doesn't necessarily indicate quality, something can be consistantly bad; however we know that this is not the case with Klaus. And Miditerranean Pads reaffirms this notion. I wouldn't put pads on par with his classic Timewind or Mirage. Even so, pads deserves to be called one of Klaus' better efforts. Comparable to Trancefer, Klaus does especially well composing the percussion --- he seems to have learned much from his former collaborator, drummer MICHAEL SHRIEVE. Klaus utilizes these percussion skills most markedly on aptly-named Percussion Planante. Sampled vocals and bass lines are also implemented, so there's a lot going on internally. ... Decent Changes is a half-hour's worth of totally enjoyable music. It is relaxing enough to read, rest, or work to, yet interesting enough to sit up and really listen. |
