Ilma: ‘Public corroborees’. ‘Dreamt’ by the owner/performer. Two-line verses over
four musical phrases; music repeated and altered to fit the verse line. Accompa-
nied by clap-sticks or boomerangs. Worked on over a long period of time with
new versus often added (c.f. Metcalfe’s multiple recordings) Case study: Billy
Ah Choo’s ilma: §4. Dancing accompanies ilma. Repetition roughly ababa,
sometimes partial lines repeated.
