SPOILER (INFO) | QUOTE: | The Stoney Curtis Band has been working the clubs between Los Angeles & Las Vegas and touring thru the USA and Europe for nearly ten years, honing their own brand of psychedelic blues rock and readying their show for the road ahead. Over the past few years the band has done several tours of the US and four European tours. They are scheduled to tour the US again during the spring of 2011, followed by yet another trek across the Europe in November & December of 2011. Heavily steeped in 60's/70's psychedelia, the Stoney Curtis Band has translated the energy of their phenomenal live show into the grooves of their third Blues Bureau CD, "Cosmic Conn3ction." While in Europe after the release of the band's prior CD, "Raw and Real", which was met with critical acclaim that included an "Essential Album pick" by the ALL MUSIC GUIDE, they were aired on one of the biggest music television shows in Europe, "RockPalast", which had previously treated viewers to live performances by other blues rock greats such as ZZ Top, Johnny Winter, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Joe Bonamassa to name only a few. The bands debut release, "Acid Blues Experience", has reached a cult status among the Blues Rock/Guitar community. In the tradition of classic blues rock power trios such as the Jimi Hendrix Experience, Cream, Robin Trower, and Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble, the Stoney Curtis Band are centered around their lead singer/lead guitarist Stoney Curtis, who is, without a doubt, one of the most impressive strat players on the circuit today. It is no wonder why rows and rows of Harley's line up in Los Angeles, Las Vegas and the world to see this aggressive trio whip the crowd into a frenzy with their own brand of psychedelic blues rock, fueled by Stoney's non-stop guitar pyrotechnics. "My music is my Chicago sound - Hard Rock and Blues. When I was growing up on the South Side of Chicago before moving to Los Angeles, my friends & I were listening to Hard Rock like UFO, The Scorpions, KISS, Sabbath, Deep Purple, etc., as well as Blues Rock like Robin Trower, Hendrix, Zeppelin and Clapton... the list is endless." But it was when he saw BB King at Chicago Fest that he totally fell in love with the blues. "We became engulfed in it. We would listen to underground blues stations with DJ's like 'Ole Uncle Bill', playing all sorts of deep blues. He always said 'I'm feeling Sweet as Sugar, Smooth as Silk.' I loved the attitude of Blues music. The Blues had feeling, depth, and truth. Seeing Son Seals as a young teen down at Blue Chicago, off of Rush Street, showed me the power of a bluesman and the power of the guitar. He was electrifying. I could feel every note he played, and I believed him." Stoney Curtis enlisted the talents of Aaron Haggerty on drums (Eric Gales, Al McCray) and bassist Steve Evans (Coco Montoya, Chris Cain, Roy Rogers) to take his exciting style of Acid Blues to the highest level on Cosmic Conn3ction. |
